Practice Profile [Family]
William is an established family barrister who receives instructions in all aspects of family and criminal law. He undertakes a considerable amount of ancillary relief work and recently acted for a celebrity in such proceedings. He has a busy practice in public and private law proceedings, and can count local authorities, children's guardians and parents amongst his clients in these areas. Due to his criminal work, William regularly appears in injunctive proceedings and is often briefed to prepare schedules in fact-finding hearings. William's criminal practice is also busy. He often appears in serious cases involving the full spectrum of charges, from violence through to dishonesty and sexual offences . He recently represented one of those arrested and charged in connection with the Exeter bomb in 2008.
He believes in early and regular client contact throughout the course of proceedings to ensure the lay client understands the process every step of the way. His interests include kayaking, cars, holidays and art.
Experience
Family Law
All ancillary relief applications, Inheritance (Provision for Dependants) Act 1975 Act claims and Schedule 1 Children Act applications. Private and Public Law proceedings – representing Parents, Children’s Guardians and Local Authorities. Non-molestation and occupation order applications.
Criminal Law
Instructed in all aspects of criminal work. His practice is predominantly defence, with an emphasis on violent offences. He also acts on behalf of the Department of Work and Pensions, RSPCA and the Security Industry Agency.
Tribunal work
Inquests, Employment Tribunals, Criminal Injuries Compensation Appeal Panel work.
